Blue represents the cosmopolitan nature of Singaporeans and reminds us that our citizens are increasingly mobile and plugged into the global economy while orange represents the ethnic and cultural vibrancy in Singapore - the mix of races and religions we have here that has created a mosaic comprising the many different ethnic and racial groups represented in Singapore.
The two outer circles are inter-locking and held together by the red centre circle - red symbolising passion and commitment. At the core of being rooted to Singapore is this sense of passion and commitment towards society.
The inter-locking nature of the circles relates to the idea of connection or bond, as National Education is about connecting Singaporeans to Singapore and building bonds among Singaporeans.
Moreover, the role of Nexus as the central National Education coordinator is about providing a coherent and well-integrated National Education effort at the national level. To do this, we need National Education agencies to be connected, through formal committees and working groups, as well as through informal partnerships and working relationships.
And finally, why is the logo shaped like a heart? This is because the core purpose of National Education is to strengthen the heartware of Singapore by developing a strong sense of nationhood among our citizens.
